About Podworld
Podworld is a podcast about the podcasts you should listen to next. If you are a massive fan of podcasts and are always on the look out for new show, or are simply brand new to podcasts and don't know where to start... this show is for you.
On every episode of Podworld, co-hosts Louise Blain and David Maher Roberts (DMR) select a specific genre (like comedy, or food, or true crime, or history) and go searching for the stand out podcasts to recommend in that genre. There's also an interview with a podcast host from the same genre and also a few listener recommendations. This is an upbeat celebration of great podcasts for people who love them.
We include listener recommendations on the show, so please follow us on Twitter, Insta and Facebook (@podpodworld) and share your recommendations with us.
Meet the hosts
Louise Blain
I'm a freelance writer and broadcaster across games, tech, and entertainment and, just like DMR, happily obsessed with podcasts. Whether travelling in the before times or now just using them as an excuse to dust, I love that podcasts constantly have the power to bring new essential voices and stories to our ears.
I'm a big fan of true crime documentaries and podcasts and started Killt podcast (@killtpodcast) last year talking specifically about the genre. I'm also a regular guest on The Evolution of Horror, The Final Girls to discuss my love of horror movies, and even sneaked onto Ali Plumb's Radio 1 Screen Time podcast on BBC Sounds.
I'm currently the presenter of BBC Radio 3's Sound of Gaming where I journey through the best video game soundtracks and I have a weekly slot on BBC Radio Scotland talking about tech with Kaye Adams. You can also occasionally find me lurking on BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio Bristol, on BBC Click and Netflix UK's YouTube channel, as well as my writing on GamesRadar, T3, Redbull, and VGC.
David Maher Roberts (DMR)
Hi there! This is an obvious thing to say, but I'm a very big fan of podcasts and audio story telling. I love connecting to others through their voices and the stories they tell. It's the best.
I have hosted and created two other podcasts: Seeking Out the Next Generation - a podcast about young entrepreneurs and creators with inspiring experiences to share, and What Now - a series of interviews with business leaders where we try to figure out what's happening in the world of marketing.
In my day job, I run Dialect (dialectinc.com), a digital marketing agency (with offices in SF, LA, Toronto, London and Bath) that specialises in engaging tech and gaming audiences for global brands.
